With Covid-19 being a global pandemic, this means that it isn’t just Golf in the UK that has been affected. Arguably every golf industry around the world has been impacted, in some cases for the better! So, what has been going on?
Following the announcement of the nationwide lockdown from PM Boris Johnson last week, golf’s national unions announced clubs and courses to be closed across the UK. This was also then followed by the R&A’s backing on this decision.
Now is the time for golfers to rally together and do all they can for the sport and local clubs in this current time of crisis. Help our beloved clubs survive.
A member of the health select committee had a question many of us golfers wanted to know the answer to. Dean Russell MP asked, “Exercise is going to be key [especially for older people]. If someone wants to play golf, can they still do that if they’re not close together?”
Over the past few days, BIGGA, GCMA and the PGA have put together some guideline’s golfers should follow whilst out playing. This comes after the UK’s chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, stated playing golf “is OK – if you keep a distance.” Check out the guidelines below:
