Major locations 2022

With the PGA Tour having come to the close with Patrick Cantlay winning the tour championship and the Ryder Cup done and dusted… I am drawing a blank on the result, for some reason, we thought we’d look ahead to the next season and what the majors have in store.

The Masters

This is a pretty easy one to start with as The Masters is always at Augusta National in Georgia. The picture-perfect white sand bunkers as well as imported pine needles and synthetic bird noises, makes Augusta one of the most beautiful rounds in the world.

Hideki Matsuyama took Japan’s first ever green jacket at this year's event and he will be looking to defend his title in 2022.

PGA Championship

Southern Hills Country Club holds the 2022 PGA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it's the 5th time the club has held the event, hosting the US Open as well, on three other occasions.

The course was built as part of the wider country club facility in 1936 and the clubhouse was designed in an ‘English country manor’ style.

Phil Mickelson is the reigning champion following victory at Kiawah Island, an amazing feat for the veteran, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to repeat this amazing feat at 51, but we and he can dream.

US Open

Next year's US Open is up in the north east at The Country Club in Massachusetts. It’s the fourth time it's been held there but the first time since the 1999 Ryder Cup was held there.

Team Europe’s Matt Fitzpatrick won there in the US Amateur in 2013 so he has pedigree on the course and will be hoping to do it again at pro level.

World number One, Jon Rahm won this year at Torrey Pines and he will be a threat and every major next year.

The Open

The big one, for Brits at least, is The Open Championship which will be returning to St Andrews for a 30th time. St Andrews’ old course is thought of as the oldest golf course in the world and is certainly one of the most iconic courses for any golf fan.

Danny Willett just took victory a few weeks ago at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, of which 2 rounds are at this course. He will be looking to build on his 2016 masters victory with a second major at home next year.

Colin Morikawa after an excellent year including taking the title at Royal St George’s and being excellent at the Ryder Cup, will be looking to push on next year and secure more titles. He will be a threat anytime he’s in the field including up in Fife.

It’s going to be an exciting year in professional golf next year and we can’t wait for it!
